Disputed issue between India and US
U S- India bilateral trade is worth $142bn in 2018 . But $5.6bn export was previously duty free in US, now has come under US tariffs since US withdrew India’s preferential trade treatment under US GSP (Generalized System of Preference ) system , US also increased tariffs on Steel and Aluminium. In retaliation India has also raised the tariff to 120% on 29 goods in last June 2018 but trade talk has delayed their implementation, now on 15June 2019 India implemented tariffs on 28 American goods including Almond and Apple.
Apart from these issues India and US have managed good Understanding in defense sector deal .
- India US may come to a common point for trade relating issue.
- Agreements to be signed between India and US.
- Sources saying that US trade minister might miss flight or he will take corner if he joins the boat, in that case this visit of Trump will be merely a election stunt as Trump is doing nowadays in US.
