Kings XI Punjab Players :
The team under scanner today is one who makes a promising start to the season, sails through to the middle but somehow loses the plot in the second half of the tournament.
Its time to include Punjabi Tadka to the IPL menu. The Kings of Punjab have made changes in the management and their leadership. Will this change in leadership bring the change in fortunes for the Kings ?
Batsman : Chris Gayle, Mandeep Singh, Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Sarfaraz Khan
All Rounder : Glenn Maxwell, James Neesham, K. Gowtham, Deepak Hooda, Harpreet Brar, Tajinder Singh
Wicket-Keeper : KL Rahul (C), Nicholas Pooran, Simran Singh
Bowlers : Md Shami, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Sheldon Cottrell, Chris Jordan, Hardus Viljoen, Ishan Porel, Ravi Bishnoi, J.Suchith, Darshan Nalkande, Murugan Ashwin, Arshdeep Singh
The KingsXI have KL Rahul and universe boss Chris Gayle, depending upon the latter’s form and fitness, as their openers.
At three, they have Mayank Agarwal and at four and five they have Glenn Maxwell and Nicholas Pooran.
At six, Sarfaraz Khan is a handy option and K Gowtham at seven is very useful in UAE conditions.
In bowling department, Kings have the magician Mujeeb and with him they have M. Ashwin and under 19 star Ravi Bishnoi.
Md Shami is their pace bowling spearhead who has the assistance of young Ishan Porel and many foreign recruits.
But there is a catch here, if they go with Gayle, Kings have to compromise on their pace bowling as there is no place for any foreign players.
If Gayle doesn’t play then they can slot in Chris Jordan, who is an excellent death bowler and can contribute with bat too in crunch situations. Induction of Jordan provides better balance to the team.
They also have Hardus Viljoen and Sheldon Cottrell in pace bowling department.
The Kings have almost all the bases covered, the only thing they need to figure out is to field a proper eleven.
They have a new young caption this time, the success of this team lies in the fact that how efficiently Rahul uses his resources. Eyes will be on Rahul, how he leads his team because don’t forget he is being seen as a future caption of India.
Can the young skipper lead them to the finals which has been alluding them since 2014.
